Coach PRX Alecks Believes They Can Win the VCT Pacific League But..
In 2022, Paper Rex is one of the teams that has raised the name of Southeast Asia on the global stage of Valorant.
They have always been representatives of Southeast Asia in international Valorant tournaments and were able to enter the top 4 and also runner up in 2 Masters events in 2022.
With their entry into the VCT 2023 Pacific League, the fans have high expectations for them to win.
But they started the league inconsistently, in first 4 matches, going 2-2 record, losing against Team Secret and DRX. In the gameplay itself, it can be seen that they are not stable by the standards that we all know.
But after their defeat to DRX, they immediately won 3 consecutive matches. Entering week 8, which is the VCT super week, they can close the league with 2nd place if they win against Gen.G and RRQ.
Their improvement in form is definitely a good sign since they started to be consistent before the playoffs started. Playoffs are the most important time for a team to play well.
Coach PRX Alecks: We Can Win The League But There’s DRX
During the scrum interview, coach from Paper Rex, Alecks gave his opinion on the team’s current performance and what needs to be improved.
Alecks felt that PRX had started to be consistent and they were able to win the VCT league but there was one giant they had to defeat first, namely DRX.
“I believe that we are good enough to win the league but there are DRX in our way, we have never beaten them, we want to beat them once and we will try our best.
I think there are times when we are a little too aggressive, it’s part of our gameplay identity but sometimes it needs to be tweaked a bit depending on the moment and the situation.” said the trainer by the name of Alex Salle.
With lots of young and aggressive players, it’s certainly not easy to harbor that aggression, but that seems to be what Alecks himself wants to change.
He felt his team was getting closer to the ideal gameplay they wanted to do.
“I think we are getting closer to the ideal playing style that we want to do. It’s important for us to hit the peak of form at the right time, and the fact we’re getting better at the moment is a good sign for us, coming into the playoffs.” said Aleck.
So it seems that Paper Rex with the role changes and also the players has produced positive results for this team. And entering the playoffs, PRX is getting more comfortable and confident with the gameplay they have created.
Alecks also knows how important the second seed is in the league and this will increase their chances of getting into the Tokyo Masters as well as the 2023 Champions.
“I think it’s important for everyone, two chances and we can reach the Tokyo Masters. I think it’s important for us, we want to go. this is the first major valorant tournament in asia, we want to be there.” closed Alex.
In week 8, Paper Rex will play 2 times against Gen.G and also RRQ. Match GenG on 12 May 2023 at 15:00 WIB and RRQ on 16 May 2023, 18:00 WIB.
