FNATIC Makes New History After Winning VCT Masters Tokyo 2023!

FNATIC Makes New History After Winning VCT Masters Tokyo 2023!

“I want to fight Evil Geniuses (EG) again and this time show true dominance those are the words of the IGL FNATIC Boaster after they became the first team to enter the grand finals of the VCT Masters Tokyo 2023.

Like Boaster’s words came true in the Grand Finals where they fought EG and indeed dominated EG with a score of 3-0.

Even though the score is 3-0, every map is very tight. FNATIC is probably the best team for Lotus at the moment, it’s proven that they won with a score of 13-8.

Map 2 and map 3 are Split and Bind. These two maps run very tightly. In Split, FNATIC went 8-4 before being chased 8-9 and tied for 11-11. But FNATIC was able to close this map with a score of 13-11 behind Derke’s 6 kills in the last 2 rounds.

Bind is where FNATIC looks a bit overwhelmed by EG’s aggressiveness. They trailed 7-12 before coming back 5 straight rounds to level the score at 12-12.

In OT, FNATIC was too strong for EG and finally FNATIC won the VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 with a landslide score of 3-0.

After the match in the media interview, Boaster was asked if he really wanted to show dominance, why were they banned from Fracture, EG’s strongest map. He replies that where they come from is winning, not giving the opponent a chance.

“We can open Fracture to really show true dominance, but we are here to win, so why give the best map to the enemy team,” said Boaster.

As we know, history has been made by this FNATIC team. They are the first team to have won 2 consecutive international VALORANT tournaments.

After VCT LOCK//IN, and now VCT Masters Tokyo 2023, FNATIC can still finish their history if they win at the upcoming VCT Champions 2023.

Interestingly, their stars, Derke and Leo, did not play their best agents at all.

Derke didn’t play Jett at all and Leo didn’t play Sova. It’s possible because the map wasn’t picked by them or their opponent, but this is a very interesting record from FNATIC.

Coach FNATIC mini provided his thoughts on this.

“Now our team is like a superteam, we don’t need Derke to get 40 kills on Jett every match… We don’t need him to win our games anymore so we can go to another map and feel comfortable,” Mini said.

FNATIC is still unbeaten when playing in international tournaments in 2023. Looking at the performance of the other teams and how FNATIC won, it’s still hard to imagine which team is ready to stop this superteam.

Of course, there is still time for VCT Champions 2023, teams like LOUD, Team Liquid, Paper Rex and others to improve again to stop FNATIC’s move.
