Minimum Salary, Import Rules & Roster Size |

VCT 2023 Roster Rules Explanation: Minimum Salary, Import Rules & Roster Size.

The upcoming Valorant 2023 will be very different from the Valorant system we’ve known for the past 2 years.

As we know, Valorant will move to a partnership or semi-franchise league system where there will be 30 teams playing in this league.

With this new system, Riot Games implemented stricter rules around roster creation and added more rules. These are some of the most important roster rules for a VCT team.

Minimum Salary For 2023 VCT League Players

Organizations wishing to deploy their roster for a partnership league with the Valorant Champions Tour 2023 must follow the new rules and regulations surrounding their team construction. These rules are subject to change and may be changed as the Valorant player guild or other factors progress.

One of the main roster rules for VCT, which Riot highlighted during its initial announcement, is the minimum salary for players in the three leagues.

The minimum salary rules in all three leagues are $50,000 for American league, €50,000 for EMEA, and KRW 67,000,000 for APAC. If a team wants to pay in another currency, they must match the exchange rates between the league currencies according to the new rulebook.

Player compensation outside of their salary, such as streaming money, prize money, or performance bonuses, is not taken into account in their basic minimum salary. So organizations can’t get around the minimum payout a player needs by saying it’s an outside income.

VCT Roster Import Regulations

The VCT roster will be limited to one non-resident, or imported player. Where players are in their starting roster, four players must be residents of the country the league represents.

Residents are defined by Riot as players who have citizenship, are legal permanent residents, or are refugees in their respective league territories.

So 1 team must have 4 players from countries in the Asia Pacific, such as Indonesia, Korea, Japan and others. 1 player coming from outside Asia Pacific, such as North America or Europe, will be counted as an imported player.

There are exceptions to this rule for Game Changer, or Valorant ladies players. In an effort to incentivize organizations to bring in Game Changer players, or “Game Changer Alumni” according to the rulebook, players from Game Changer can claim residency in the “Applicable League Territory” and not have to meet the residency rules.

Game Changers Alums are defined as players who have started in teams competing in the Game Changers regional playoffs.

League Roster Size & Age Requirements

The minimum number of players in a franchise team is 6, and there needs to be a head coach or coach, there is a manager during the beginning and end of the league season.

All six players must qualify to compete in the league, so a team cannot have two imported players with one imported player on the bench at all times.

In that scenario, the team must have eight players in total, six of whom are residents, to stay on the roster requirements.

The maximum number of players a team can have is 10.

Players born on or before March 26, 2005, or aged 17, are eligible to compete in Game Changers leagues and events.
