Riot Games Will Self Publish League of Legends & TFT In Southeast Asia Starting in 2023

RIOT GAMES WILL PUBLISH THEIR OWN LEAGUE OF LEGENDS AND TEAMFIGHT TACTICS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA STARTING IN 2023.

  • Starting November 18th, League of Legends and TFT players with Garena accounts will be able to migrate their account data to Riot servers.
  • Taiwan Mobile and VNGGames will publish both games in Taiwan and Vietnam, respectively.
  • Riot’s League and TFT game servers will go live in January 2023.

Riot Games announced that it will take over publishing of League of Legends (“League”) and Teamfight Tactics (“TFT”) in Southeast Asia and Taiwan starting January 2023.

This brings the total number of self-published games by Riot in the region to five, including VALORANT, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Legends of Runeterra.

While Riot Games self-publishes across Southeast Asia, Riot has also appointed Taiwan Mobile and VNGGames as League and TFT’s new publishers in Taiwan and Vietnam, respectively.

‘League’ first launched in Southeast Asia in 2010, with Riot granting publishing rights to Garena, a leading global online game developer and publisher.

Garena has gradually developed the ‘League’ and ‘TFT’ until it achieved success and reached the milestone of the 10th anniversary of the ‘League’ in 2019.

Since then, Riot Games has launched and self-published new games with associated esports leagues, including ‘VALORANT’ and ‘VALORANT Champions Tour’, ‘League of Legends: Wild Rift’ and ‘Wild Rift Esports’, and has also expanded its entertainment offerings to include A new EP from virtual bands K/DA and Pentakill under Riot Games Music, as well as the release of the animated series ‘Arcane’.

Riot is also continuing to expand its capabilities with a new operating model focused on the fast-growing Asia Pacific region, where the company has expanded its publishing reach to include Japan and India.

In addition, Riot is establishing local offices in key markets such as the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, to increase the company’s presence and provide better hyper-localization to players in each market.

“We are grateful for Garena’s publishing partnership and support over the past decade. Their efforts have built an incredible community of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics players across Southeast Asia, and the success of this game would not have been possible without them.”

Over the past few years, Riot has also worked hard to expand our capabilities across the region, building strong local teams and a deep network of partners. We feel that now is the right time for us, to have League and TFT publishing licenses in Southeast Asia, as part of our expansion into Asia Pacific.

As we continue our focus on becoming the most player-focused gaming company, we are passionate about bringing immersive and meaningful experiences to our players, both inside and outside the game.

We look forward to seeing players benefit from Riot’s unified ecosystem and look forward to carving out the next history with them,” said Alex Kraynov, Managing Director for APAC, Riot Games.

“We would like to thank Riot and the League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics communities for their incredible support and partnership in developing the two games to the success they are today in Southeast Asia and Taiwan.

We are honored to have worked with Riot over the past decade to create the best possible experience for players, and wish the team success in the next chapter,” said Kevin Huang, Regional Producer of League of Legends, Garena.
