Riot Games Relaunch LoL and TeamFight Tactics (TFT) in Southeast Asia!

Riot Games today celebrated the relaunch of League of Legends (“League”) and Teamfight Tactics (“TFT”) in Southeast Asia. The relaunch marks the start of Riot’s server operations and publishing for both games in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Vietnam, ending their 12-year publishing partnership with Garena.

Last year on November 18th, account migration started for players to transfer their Garena League/TFT account data to their Riot account. Following a successful migration and now with the launch of the new Riot servers, players can look forward to becoming part of the Riot ecosystem, gaining access to content previously unavailable at cross-franchise events, as well as exciting experiences outside of games including the activities and esports communities operated by Riot.

Players in the region will also gain access to regional Riot publishing services including Localization, Billing, Player Support, and future local marketing activations and partnerships. From now on, all SEA League and TFT players will also be playing on the Riot Client.

Talking about the relaunch, Alex Kraynov, Managing Director of Riot Games at APAC said, “Riot’s goal with this migration is to provide Southeast Asian players with the best experience and the same level of in-game events and content as we do for players in the rest of the Riot region. League of Legends players will also enjoy deeper content integration within the Riot ecosystem, as well as exciting in-game and cross-franchise campaigns. It’s important to us that players feel themselves not only in the world of League, but in the Riot ecosystem as a whole.”

With this announcement, Riot is now self-publishing all five of its titles including VALORANT, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Legends of Runeterra in the region.

Relaunch LoL & TFT Events and Rewards

To celebrate the relaunch, Riot Games has announced that the ranked rolling season will start from January 10th. Players can also look forward to the Welcome Event starting on January 13, where they can earn various types of Tokens, which can be exchanged for free permanent skin shards, legendary eggs, and even Ultimate skins.

Additionally, in honor of League’s original launch, SEA players will get the unique opportunity to unlock all champions released from 2009–2021 for free simply by completing in-game missions. Riot will also kick off the festive season with a Lunar New Year Event starting January 13th.

Teamfight Tactics Monsters Attack!

Monster Attack TFT SEA players! Ranked Set 8 will also be migrating to the new Riot server. With the relaunch, players will find Set 8 content waiting for them on the new Riot servers. While players’ Monsters Attack Pass progress will not be carried over, Monsters Attack Pass purchases and any inventory acquired will be carried over. Players will receive a modified version of the Monsters Attack Pass related mission that offers players accelerated experience accumulation as a one-time benefit tied to a welcome event to make up for reduced playtime.

2023 League Season Kickoff Tournament

This new esports season also marks a change in the ownership and operation of League esports. Riot Games will also relaunch the Vietnam Championship Series (“VCS”). With the publishing transition, Riot aims to continue to provide pro League teams and fans with the most engaging and entertaining esports experiences.

From January 10-11, the LCS, LEC, LCK, LPL, LJL, CBLOL, LLA, PCS, and VCS will be hosting a special two-day broadcast event previewing the 2023 season and highlighting players to watch, giving fans a first look at the season. 2023 on the Rift, and take a peek at what’s coming for League esports. More information on the format and schedule of the event will be released soon. The Kickoff Event will replace the League of Legends All-Star Event.
