Less Than A Year Released, Respawn Will Close Apex Legends Mobile

Less Than A Year Released, Respawn Will Close Apex Legends Mobile.

The mobile version for Apex Legends will be closing in the coming months. This comes less than a year after its initial release, Respawn Entertainment announced today.

Today begins a 90-day window before play is discontinued for good on May 1, 2023, the company said.

In its blog post, Respawn explained the decision and also said there will be no refunds given for any purchases made in the game.

“At Respawn, we aim to provide players with consistently outstanding gameplay. Following such a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile is starting to fall short of those standards for quality, quantity, and rhythm.” said Respawn. “It is for this reason that, after months of working with our development partners, we made the joint decision to retire our mobile game. While disappointing, we are proud of the game we launched, grateful for the support of the Apex Legends community, and confident that this is the right decision for players.”

Apex Legends Mobile first launched on May 17, 2022. It includes exclusive content such as legends Rhapsody and Fade, but also has classic maps and weapons available in Apex Legends.

As for content that has been purchased, they will not be returned or refunded.

“Our love for the Apex universe and our players remains unchanged,” said Respawn. “We look forward to exploring this universe, its characters and stories with you. In the meantime, we appreciate your continued support and patience as we navigate the next steps.”

Legends like Rhapsody and Fade were previously announced as “mobile first”, but no PC release date has been confirmed. This plan could change a lot of things, but for now, the mobile version of the battle royale just doesn’t exist anymore.

Widely Criticized By The Community

The closure of Apex Legends Mobile has made many fans, players and the community very angry. Moreover, Apex has just released a special bundle

“Especially when they just released their Chinese Lunar New Year bundle, people were so mad they spent the money hopefully Respond and whoever is behind Apex Mobile refunded them” tweeted by Apex fan Stormie Bergeaux.

Fans like Sonho are also very disappointed and very angry that Apex Legends Mobile has closed. “What the hell? Apex Legends Mobile Closed? They give up on games that are revolutionary in mobile esports! EA also according to Battlefield Mobile as well. They should sell this game to Netease like Dead by Daylight Mobile did. Startling! Crazy!
