In doing so, they will eventually encounter some magical locked doors and environmental puzzles that will require some knowledge and wits to overcome challenges to open them.
One of the earliest and probably the most difficult puzzles they will encounter in Hogwarts Legacy is a math puzzle door. They will require a fair amount of research and basics before they can be unlocked.
Fortunately, the information you need to solve it is right in front of you. It just takes a few thoughts to work it out.
How to Solve the Hogwarts Legacy Number Door Puzzle
While you may encounter some door number puzzles early in your journey around the Hogwarts Heritage map, it’s nearly impossible to solve them without understanding how they work.

This puzzle features four circles within a triangle: the middle number represents the total, and the three circles surrounding it add up to produce the total. What makes this simple math equation so difficult is that some of the circles are filled with symbols.

- Go to the Divination Classroom’s Floo Flame location.
- Walk across the rafters and take the first right you see.
- Find the door number puzzle next to the blackboard.
- Open the blue chest next to the blackboard to find the Arithmancy Learning Guide Page.
Using this page, you can find out what the symbols mean to solve the puzzle. The chalkboard provides an example of how the puzzle works. If the total is 14 and the circle contains two and a Hydra (Hydra equals three), then that means the question mark must be the multi-headed snake representing nine.

The actual “cheat sheet” you can find is hidden in Rafters at Hogwarts, which you can access immediately after exploring Hogsmeade. This basically gives you an idea of what each creature in the puzzle door means.
The number that each represents is specific, such as Unicorn has one horn and Graphorn has two, Hydra has three heads, Spider has eight legs, etc.
