The new and challenging Wild Rift League-Asia is slated to officially kick off in April 2023. This year teams from two competitions, WRL CN and WRL APAC, will compete on the stage. Find out more about the plans for this year!

Number of slots and access to promotions
Wild Rift League-Asia will consist of 20 teams with 12 permanent slots for WRL CN and eight temporary slots for WRL APAC.

Teams from WRL APAC can advance to the WRL APAC Open Qualifier through regional events and get the chance to advance to the Wild Rift League-Asia.

The WRT Challenger Tournament (WRTC) will continue, but the WRL Challenger Tournament (WRLC) will be cancelled. Teams from WRL CN still have the chance to advance to the WRT by participating in the Wild Rift National League (WRN) in the region.

In 2023, the third Wild Rift Tour (WRT3) will take place over one season throughout the year, with pro WRL CN tier two teams competing in four to six separate tournaments to determine the 2023 champion. The second runners-up and second runner-up will determined by the points earned in each tournament.

WRT3 will provide new talent to the entire WRL CN professional ecosystem by cultivating new players, coaches and practitioners. The event will also introduce a series of tournament-wide player policies to drive the development of the entire professional Wild Rift Esports system.

The WRL APAC and WRL A1 Open Qualifier competition system

The APAC WRL Open Qualifier will begin in February with open registration in Vietnam, the Philippines and Southeast Asia. A maximum of 16 teams from each regional tournament will participate in the first stage of the APAC WRL Open Qualifier, which will be held February 10-12.

Following the first stage of the competition, two teams from each region are eligible to participate in the second stage of the WRL APAC Open Qualifier, which will be held February 17-19, along with the two seeded teams from their respective local regions. The two qualifying teams from each of the three local regions will advance to WRL A1.

The Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) will be open to all APAC WRL teams that have not yet qualified for WRL A1, and the winner will be the last team to advance to WRL A1. Simultaneously, one team will be invited directly from South Korea to take part in WRL A1.

Finally, eight teams will be selected from the APAC WRL: Vietnam (2 slots), Philippines (2 slots), Southeast Asia (2 slots), Korea (1 slot), and LCQ (1 slot). The teams that are at the bottom of the WRL APAC rankings will compete in the APAC WRL relegation event for a spot in the APAC WRL in the future.

The WRL A1 competition will then be divided into three stages: the regular season, the playoffs and the final.

We will be announcing more information about Wild Rift League-Asia later this year, and the location for the WRL A1 finals is under consideration. Keep watching the progress. Follow @WildRiftEsports for the latest news.
