MOONTON Games and EFC Officially Agree on Cambodia to Host MSC 2023 Continuing the 32nd Sea Games!

International game developer and publisher, MOONTON Games and the Cambodian Esports Federation (EFC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote the growth of the local esports industry and enhance the competitive gaming landscape in the world’s nations.

Held at Preah Vihear Hall for the Ministry of Information, this signing aims to lay the groundwork for a long-term and successful partnership between MOONTON Games and EFC in hosting the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports tournament in the country, including a medal bout at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). ) 32nd in May and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023 which will start in June 2023.

This MoU was written by Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem, MOONTON Games, and His Excellence (HE) Chea Chanboribo, EFC Secretary State of Ministry of Information and President.



“MPL Cambodia’s success has helped strengthen the development of the esports ecosystem in Cambodia, and we want to go a step further by presenting MSC 2023 to create more opportunities for local talent here,” said Ray.

“We are excited to showcase the potential of Cambodian players to the global arena and bring global players to #SEATheWorld.”

“I am delighted that the Cambodian Esports Federation and MOONTON Games are jointly hosting the MoU signing ceremony to forge a new partnership in hosting MSC 2023 for the first time in Phnom Penh. This signing is part of a joint effort to develop the local esports industry and create more events in the country for athletes,” said HE Chea Chanboribo.

“The opportunity to host this major international event is a testament to the development of the Kingdom of Cambodia in general and in the field of esports. Thanks to MOONTON Games for co-organizing this event in Cambodia.”

Also present at the ceremony were the EFC State Ministry of Tourism and Secretary General of the Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) Secretary HE Vath Chamreoun, Department of Physical Education and Sports Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Deputy Director Pen Vuthy, Director of Organization and Management of Sports Events Hout Sengtry , and General Secretary Lun Samedy. Bytedance Public Policy Lead for Cambodia Kyu Kyu Thein also graced the event.

This year, MSC will make history with the entry of new teams outside Southeast Asia namely North America, MENA (Middle East and North Africa), and Turkey.

In line with his vision, “Esports for Everyone”MSC 2023 seeks to increase the diversity of competitors by inviting non-SEA teams to compete in one of the biggest MOBA tournaments in the world.

Cambodia will also host the 32nd SEA Games including the medal bout in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang which will feature an independent tournament for women for the first time. The MLBB tournament will start from May 10 to May 15, 2023.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has been featured as a medal event at the Southeast Asian Games since 2019. The first and second iterations were held in the Philippines and Vietnam respectively.
