Monkey is arguably one of the rising stars in the controller role in the VCT 2023 Pacific League. His performance as Astra, Omen and Viper really amazed the fans.
In week 5, Monkey just faced one of the world’s best controllers, Mindfreak. The Paper Rex controller itself is famous for its clutch play throughout 2022.
During the scrum interview, SPIN Esports asked Mindfreak exactly what could make Monkey improve his performance so much in this controller role.

PRX Mindfreak About GES Monkey Performance
As we all know Mindfreak throughout 2022 is arguably one of the best controllers in the world. His clutch and crazy performance brought Paper Rex himself to be the runner up in the Copenhagen Masters.
Seeing the rise of a new controller from Indonesia, Monkey, Mindfreak feels Monkey is a player who has high self-confidence. And those are the signs of a good player.
“I would say his confidence got really high after he set a new record of 39 kills. I think after his confidence got really high, it’s a sign of a good player when you have really good confidence. I would say his confidence changed him.” said the player named Aaron Leonhart.
The match between Paper Rex and Global Esports was the first time Monkey faced Mindfreak in the controller role. These two players have fairly even statistics in week 5 yesterday.
Mindfreak got an ACS 170 with a KDA of 35/37/17 and an ACS Monkey 214 with a KDA of 43/46/17.
The IGL and Global Esports captain Ayrin also gave his high praise to Monkey with the improvement in his game and skills he has shown so far.

In the VCT 2023 Pacific League, Monkey is the third best controller so far, behind DRX Mako and ZETA SugarZ3ro.
