Being Too Engrossed in Playing Honkai: Star Rail, Valorant’s Pro Team Loses the VCT Match!
For a first in Valorant esports, a team had to forfeit a VCL match because one of its players was too busy playing Honkai: Star Rail.
Before Honkai: Star Rail was officially released on April 26, the game had already gained immense popularity as it reached over 10 million pre-registrations and surpassed Genshin Impact’s opening day downloads.
Just like other HoYoverse titles, Star Rail is an action adventure with a gacha system where one can draw various playable characters. What sets this game apart from Genshin is that it has a turn-based combat system, which many fans have enjoyed so far.
Many Gacha games have been addicted, including Valorant players who failed to appear for official VCL matches because of the miHoYo title.
This incident occurred in the Taiwan/Hong Kong Valorant Challengers League. A match between S2 Esports and Ghost CommandoS, on May 2nd, was canceled by Ghost CommandoS because one of their players got completely addicted to Honkai: Star Rail.
As a result, the VCT game client was not installed in time, and the match ended in a loss for Ghost CommandoS.

Seeing the comments on this tweet, many people can understand this player to the point where they can forget to update their Valorant game client.
“Can’t blame him,” or “Understandable” are some of the comments from players or fans.
The good news is that Ghost CommandoS can play one more match after the losing incident. The bad news, the team lost and placed eighth in the Valorant Challengers League in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, S2 Esports has reached the top five. So the moral lesson here is not to get too distracted by games like Honkai: Star Rail on important tournament days.
